I'm responding to the numerous articles, interviews and TV spots that Elderday, a program of Salud para la Gente, has been the focal point of for the past couple of months.
I truly believe that the media attention we received is part of the reason our center is still open and thriving. Because of the media coverage, the community rallied around Elderday by writing their legislators and donating and volunteering their time at the center. My mom used to say, "It's easy to be a friend in good times but a true friend is there for the bad times." The past few months were difficult for Elderday, and Santa Cruz County showed that they "are there" and committed to caring for our disabled and aging population.
A big thanks to the Santa Cruz Sentinel, Santa Cruz Metro, KION, KUSP, Univision and the Register Pajaronian.
