ELDERDAY—ADULT DAY HEALTH CARE
WHAT IS ELDERDAY?
Elderday is an adult day health care center, founded in 1981. Elderday serves Santa Cruz County’s adults and elders who need help with daily living tasks. The program helps participants reach and maintain their maximum level of physical, mental, emotional and social functioning by providing an opportunity for companionship, activities and professionally supervised therapies. Elderday’s objective is to help participants maintain or improve their current level of functioning.

- People who are dependent upon others due to their physical impairment or mental confusion
- Families and caregivers needing respite from the daily responsibility and stress of caring for a loved one
OUR PROGRAM STAFF
Elderday’s professionally trained staff members are selected for their experience, interest, compassion and dedication. Over half of our staff is bilingual and bicultural, Spanish/English.
Registered Nurse, Licensed Vocational Nurse and Certified Nursing Assistants assess and continually monitor health status, working with the family and participant’s primary care physician, ensuring appropriate and consistent health care.
| Activity Coordinator and Assistants provide a variety of activities, based on participants’ needs and interests. The Activity Program includes small discussion groups, arts and crafts, yoga, live music, current events, chair exercises and games. This program is designed to enhance participants’ self-esteem, reduce loneliness and maintain social interaction. Social Workers and Social Work Assistants assess the needs of participants and caregivers, act as liaisons with families, other community agencies and services, and provide individual, family and group counseling and psycho-education. Physical and Occupational Therapists and Aides assess participants and provide plans for maintenance or rehabilitative activities. Participants are assisted in maintaining or improving mobility, self-care and daily living activities, in our on-site therapy gym. Registered Dietician provides ongoing nutritional counseling for participants and caregivers and ensures that meals are nutritionally balanced. Podiatry Services A licensed podiatrist offers on-site visits twice a month to assess, monitor and treat foot ailments. Meals and Transportation Services
